class ships. It was to be designated as the NX class. The
first ships to be commissioned was the U.S.S. Enterprise in 2151. The next ships would be the U.S.S. Columbia. The Columbia was commissioned in 2154. It took 32 years of research and development at the Warp Five Complex. It was oversaw by Henry Archer, the father of Enterprise captain, Captain Jonathan Archer. It utilizes the dual-nacelle design. The ships featured crew quarters, science departments, a sickbay, cargo bays, and an armory. The bridge was located atop the saucer. The front of the ship featured the deflector ship. The ships featured two shuttlepods in the launch bay. These shuttlepods could only travel sub-warp speeds only. A "grappler" was used to bring the shuttlepods or other small spacecreaft into the launch bay. The ships featured a gallery that featured a kitchen and a dining room. Most of the food was cooked by the kitchen crew and a chef. The captain had his own private dining area. The ship was equipped with polarized hull plating to protect from enemy weapons. NX Enterprise
The NX-01 Enterprise was the first ship in the
line of the NX class. The NX class featured Starfleet’s Warp 5 engine.
The Enterprise was commissioned in April 2151 under the
command of Captain Jonathan Archer. The engine itself was designed by Archer’s
father, Henry Archer. Henry Archer died before the engine was ready.
The Vulcans kept Earth back from exploring space, thus
the continous delays in the engine flying. The Vulcans decided to send along
T’Pol, who ended up becoming the first officer aboard Enterprise.
The ship underwent a minor refit in May 2153 before its
long-term mission into the Delphic Expanse. During this refit, the torpedoes
were upgraded to photonic torpedoes.
