The Hekarans are a humanoid species from the planet Hekaras II. They are members of the Federation.
Their scientists discovered that that space near the their planet was very susceptible to warp field effects. This region was called the Hekaras Corridor.
They presented their findings to the Federation Council. Hekaran scientist Serova in 2370 caused a warp core breach on her ship and a subspace rupture. This caused warp travel in the area to become unavailable. Gravitational shifts caused the formation of Herkaras II to change.
