United Federation of Planets is an alliance of approximately 150 planetary governments and colonies, united for mutual trade, exploratory, scientific, cultural, diplomatic, and defensive endeavors. Founded in 2161. It was the dedication of Captain Jonathan Archer that allowed the Federation to form. The first members of the Federation included Earthlings, Vulcans, Andorians, and Tellarites.
Carrington Award- Prestigious scientific award given annually by the Federation Medical Council, honoring outstanding work in the field of medicine. Generally regarded as a lifetime achievement award.
Constitution of the United Federation of Planets- Historic document framed 2161, outlining the framework by which the Federation is governed for the mutual benefit and protection of member planets and individual citizens.
Federation Archaeology Council- Organization of Federation archaeologists.
Federation Astrophysical survey- Federation governmental entity that is charged with maintaining current celestial navigation information.
Federation Day- Holiday celebrating the founding of the United Federation of Planets (UFP).
Federation Department of Temporal Investigations- Federation governmental agency. Temporal Investigations concerned itself with assessing potential damage to the flow of history caused by time travelers.
Federation Grand Jury- Panel of citizens who evaluated judicial cases to determine if evidence warranted an indictment.
Federation Medical Academy- Schhol of medical instruction
Federation News Service- News reporting organization of the Federation.
Federation Penal Colony- located in New Zealand (Earth)
Federation President- Leader of the representative council government governing the United Federation of Planets.
Federation Science Council- Governmental entity charged with advising the Federation on scientific matters.
Federation Supreme Court- Highest judicial body in the Federation.
Terraform Command- Federation administrative office responsible for overseeing terraforming projects.
Treaty of Algeron- Peace treaty between Earth and the Romulan Star Empire that concluded the Romulan Wars around 2160. The Treaty of Algeron established the Romulan Neutral Zone, violation of the Romulan Neutral Zone by either side without adequate notification would be considered an act of war. The Treaty of Algeron also forbids the Federation from developing or using cloaking devices on its spacecraft.
