The Enarans are a sophisticated humanoid race from the Delta Quadrant. They come from the planet Enara Prime. They don’t have high warp capabilities but they do employ advanced energy conservation.
Education is very important to the Enarans. They can receive prizes such as the citizenship award. Education centers provide schooling for students who are talented to meet the grades needed.
The Enarans were once barbaric. Official records dictate of society called the Regressives. This group rejected any advanced technology. They later on became to be known as second-class citizens.
The Enaran government began discriminate the Regressives. These included gradually imposed were curfews and confinement. They also restricted the education of the Regressives. They were moved so they could pratice their beliefs without affecting the rest of the culture.
They forced the Regressives into the resettlement camps. Those that refused were treated violently. Instead, the government used some kind of thermal sweep in massive genocide, wiping out the Regressives. This was the Enaran final solution to deal with the Regressives.
The government hid the fact that they had performed the genocide. The only reminder that the Regressives ever existed is a ritual gate to the city. The tragic history was passed to U.S.S. Voyager’s Chief Engineer B’Elanna Torres. She passed this information to Jessen. She had received the information from a telepathic link from the Mirell.
