Constitution Class Ships

The differences between the original Constitution Class ships and the Constitution Class refit ships were numerous.

On the outside of the ship, the warp nacelles were more sleek and slanted back instead of the straight up and down configuration. The navigational deflector was revamped, where it was no longer an “attena-like” device but more sleeker then the original. The deflector grid was updated.
The refit ships featured many advancements inside the ship as well. The bridge module was revamped. The controls were no longer knobs but actual touch sensitive computer panels.

The original Enterprise had undergone a refit in 2270 to 2271 that incorporated many of these features. The Enterprise-A featured even more. The Enterprise-A underwent a minor refit that primarily focused on the bridge and coloring of the doors.

            Enterprise

The first Enterprise was a Constitution class starship. It was first under the command of Captain Robert April. The ship was commissioned in 2245.

The ship was then in command of Captain Christopher Pike until Captain James Kirk took command in 2263.

The Enterprise was 289 meters in length and featured 23 decks. It originally had a crew of 203, but by the 2260s, its crew had grown to 430.

The ship featured 14 science labs and an advanced medical for its primary mission of exploration.

The ship could defend itself if the occasion aroused.

The ship underwent a major refit in 2271 that nearly rebuilt the entire ship. The length of the ship was increased to 305 meters after the refit. All of the systems and the even the hull itself were refitted. The ship was destroyed by Kirk in 2285 after the Klingons boarded it.
