Simon Pegg

     Simon Pegg, born February 14, 1970, in Brockworth, Gloucestershire, England, is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for co-writing and starring in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End, as well as playing Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the Star Trek reboot films and Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible series.

     Pegg studied English literature and theater at Stratford-upon-Avon College before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Film, and Television from the University of Bristol in 1991. He began his career in stand-up comedy, performing in a troupe alongside David Walliams and Dominik Diamond.

     His breakthrough came with the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced (1999–2001), which he co-wrote with Jessica Hynes and was directed by Edgar Wright. The trio later collaborated on the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, consisting of Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013), all of which starred Pegg and Nick Frost.

     Beyond comedy, Pegg has played Scotty in Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and Star Trek Beyond (2016), and Benji Dunn in Mission: Impossible III (2006) through Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023). He has also voiced Buck in the Ice Age films and appeared in Ready Player One (2018) and The Boys (2019).

     Pegg married Maureen McCann in 2005, and they have one child. He has been open about his struggles with depression and alcoholism, which he overcame in 2010. He continues to act, write, and produce, balancing blockbuster films with independent projects.
