 Rebecca Romijn is an American actress and former model, best known for her role 
as Mystique in the original X-Men film trilogy (2000–2006). Born on November 6, 
1972, in Berkeley, California, she grew up in a creative household—her mother, 
Elizabeth Romijn, was a community college instructor, and her father, Jaap 
Romijn, was a custom furniture maker.

     Romijn 
initially pursued music at the University of California, Santa Cruz, but her 
striking looks and presence led her to a successful modeling career. She worked 
with major brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Christian Dior, and Sports 
Illustrated, and spent several years modeling in Paris.
     
Her transition into acting began with guest roles on television, including 
Friends and Just Shoot Me!, before landing her breakthrough role as Mystique in 
X-Men (2000). She reprised the role in X2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand 
(2006), earning praise for her physical transformation and performance. Other 
notable film roles include Femme Fatale (2002), The Punisher (2004), and 
Rollerball (2002).
     Romijn also found success on 
television, starring as Alexis Meade in Ugly Betty (2006–2008) and Eve Baird in 
The Librarians (2014–2018). More recently, she has portrayed Una Chin-Riley 
(Number One) in Star Trek: Discovery (2019) and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 
(2022–present).
     In her personal life, Romijn was 
married to actor John Stamos from 1998 to 2005. She later married Jerry 
O’Connell in 2007, and the couple has two daughters, Dolly and Charlie.
