Jeri Ryan, born February 22, 1968, in Munich, West Germany, is an American
actress best known for portraying Seven of Nine, the former Borg drone, in Star
Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Picard. She has also starred in Boston Public,
Shark, and Body of Proof.
Ryan grew up in a military family, moving
frequently due to her father’s U.S. Army career. She settled in Paducah,
Kentucky, where she graduated from Lone Oak High School in 1986 as a National
Merit Scholar. She later attended Northwestern University, earning a bachelor’s
degree in theater in 1990. In 1989, she won Miss Illinois and placed third
runner-up in the Miss America 1990 pageant.
Her acting career began with
guest roles in Melrose Place, Matlock, and The Sentinel. She starred in Dark
Skies (1996–1997) before landing the role of Seven of Nine in Voyager
(1997–2001). She reprised Seven in Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023).
Beyond
Star Trek, Ryan starred in Boston Public (2001–2004), Shark (2006–2008), and
Body of Proof (2011–2013). She also appeared in Leverage, Bosch, and Down with
Love.
Ryan was married to Jack Ryan (1991–1999) and later married
Christophe Émé (2007–present). She has two children and continues to act and
engage with Star Trek fans.
