Jason Alexander

    

Jason Alexander is an American actor, comedian, and director born on September 23, 1959, in Newark, New Jersey, USA. His birth name is Jay Scott Greenspan, but he adopted his stage name based on his father’s first name.

     He is best known for playing George Costanza on Seinfeld (1989–1998), a role that earned him seven consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations. He won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance.

     Alexander made his Broadway debut in Merrily We Roll Along (1981) and won a Tony Award for Jerome Robbins’ Broadway (1989). His film credits include Pretty Woman (1990), Jacob’s Ladder (1990), Coneheads (1993), Shallow Hal (2001), and Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009). He voiced Hugo the Gargoyle in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) and starred in the animated series Duckman (1994–1997).

     Alexander is a longtime Star Trek fan and actively sought a role in the franchise. He guest-starred as Kurros, an alien strategist, in the Star Trek: Voyager episode Think Tank (1999). He voiced Noum in Star Trek: Prodigy.

     Beyond acting, he has directed stage productions and appeared in guest roles on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Dream On. He has also worked as a poker player, competing in celebrity tournaments.
