Peak (2015), Barn Wedding (2015), and The Girlfriend Experience (2016). She also 
co-wrote and co-produced the web series Beattie & Mae, showcasing her talents 
beyond acting.
     Her breakthrough came in 2017 
when she was cast as Lieutenant Keyla Detmer, a bridge officer aboard the USS 
Discovery in Star Trek: Discovery. She remained a recurring character throughout 
the series, gaining recognition for her portrayal of a strong and resilient 
officer.
     Beyond Star Trek, Coutts has continued 
to work in film and television, appearing in projects such as Designated 
Survivor (2018), Clarice (2021), and various short films. She has also expanded 
her career into directing and producing, contributing to independent projects 
like Dear Jesus (2020) and They Choose You (2023).
     
In her personal life, Coutts came out as gay in 2019 and announced her 
engagement to Lexy Altman, a producer, in 2020. She has been an advocate for 
LGBTQ+ representation in the entertainment industry.
