David Ajala

     David Ajala, born May 21, 1986, in Hackney, London, England, is a British actor known for his dynamic performances in television, film, and theater. His career spans a variety of genres, from Shakespearean plays to sci-fi epics.

    Ajala is of Nigerian Yoruba descent and trained at the Anna Scher Theatre, a renowned drama school in London. His passion for acting was encouraged by a secondary school teacher who suggested he pursue the craft.

     Ajala has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, appearing in productions such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hamlet. He also played Jim Brown in the European premiere of One Night in Miami by Kemp Powers. His stage work has earned him recognition for his commanding presence and versatility.

     Ajala made his film debut in Kidulthood (2006) and reprised his role in its sequels, Adulthood (2008) and Brotherhood (2016). He also appeared in The Dark Knight (2008), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and Jupiter Ascending (2015).
On television, Ajala has starred in numerous series, including Doctor Who, Black Box, Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands, Nightflyers, and Falling Water. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Manchester Black in Supergirl (2018–2019).

     Ajala played Cleveland "Book" Booker in Star Trek: Discovery.

     Ajala has also lent his voice and likeness to video games, notably portraying Sean "Mac" McAlister in Need for Speed Payback (2017). His work in radio dramas includes roles in Burned to Nothing and The Price of Oil: Someone’s Making a Killing in Nigeria.

     Ajala is married to Terri Martin, a presenter and travel agent. The couple has two sons and frequently shares glimpses of their family life on social media.
