Celia Rose Gooding

    Celia Rose Gooding was born on February 22, 2000, in New York City, USA. They are an American actor and singer, best known for their work in musical theater and television. Gooding is the child of LaChanze, a Tony Award-winning actress, and Calvin Gooding, who tragically passed away in the September 11 attacks.

     Gooding gained prominence for their Broadway debut as Frankie Healy in Jagged Little Pill, a musical based on Alanis Morissette’s album. Their performance earned them a 2021 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and a 2020 Tony Award nomination, making them one of the youngest nominees in the category.

     In 2022, Gooding joined Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as Nyota Uhura, reimagining the iconic character originally played by Nichelle Nichols.

     Gooding studied at Pace University, initially double majoring in musical theater and child psychology before focusing solely on performance. They have also trained in dance at the Alvin Ailey Institute and Shakespeare at the Berridge Conservatory.
