Cecily Adams, born February 6, 1958, in New York City, New York, was an American
actress, casting director, and lyricist best known for portraying Ishka
(Moogie), the mother of Quark and Rom, in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She also
worked extensively in casting and theater.
Adams
was the daughter of Don Adams, the star of Get Smart, and Adelaide Efantis, a
singer. She grew up in Jamaica, Queens, and later attended Beverly Hills High
School before studying theater at the University of California, Irvine. She
trained in improvisational comedy at The Groundlings and was a member of Acme
Comedy Theater.
Her acting career included guest
roles in Murphy Brown, Just Shoot Me!, Party of Five, and Check It Out!
(alongside her father). She replaced Andrea Martin as Ishka in Deep Space Nine,
appearing in four episodes. She was also a casting director, working on That
'70s Show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Eerie, Indiana. Additionally, she co-wrote
pop songs, jingles, and TV theme songs.
Adams
married Jim Beaver in 1989, and they had one daughter. Though a non-smoker, she
was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away on March 3, 2004, at age 46. Her
ashes were scattered at Fern Canyon and Franklin Canyon Park.
