 Anthony Zerbe is an American actor, born on May 20, 1936, in Long Beach, 
California. He studied acting under Stella Adler and began his career in 
television in the early 1960s. Over the decades, he has built a reputation for 
playing complex and often villainous characters across film and television.

     Zerbe's notable film roles include Matthias in The 
Omega Man (1971), Milton Krest in Licence to Kill (1989), and Councillor Hamann 
in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003). He has also 
appeared in Cool Hand Luke (1967), Papillon (1973), The Dead Zone (1983), and 
American Hustle (2013). On television, he starred in Harry O and The Young 
Riders, and made guest appearances in Mission: Impossible, Gunsmoke, Hawaii 
Five-O, and Columbo.
     In Star Trek: Insurrection 
(1998), Zerbe played Admiral Matthew Dougherty, a Starfleet officer who secretly 
collaborated with the Son'a to forcibly relocate the Ba'ku people. His character 
was ultimately betrayed and killed by Ru'afo, the Son'a leader. His performance 
added a layer of political intrigue to the film, making Dougherty a memorable 
antagonist.
