Anthony Dwayne Montgomery, born on June 2, 1971, in Indianapolis, Indiana, is an
American actor, producer, and graphic novelist. He is best known for portraying
Ensign Travis Mayweather on Star Trek: Enterprise and Dr. Andre Maddox on
General Hospital.
Montgomery grew up in
Indianapolis and later attended Ball State University, where he earned a degree
in performance theater and drama. After graduation, he briefly pursued stand-up
comedy before moving to California to focus on acting.
His early career included guest roles on JAG, Charmed, Frasier, and Resurrection
Blvd. He gained recognition with a recurring role as George Auston on Popular
before landing his breakout role as Travis Mayweather, the helmsman of the
Enterprise NX-01, in Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005).
Beyond Enterprise, Montgomery starred in I'm Through with White Girls (2007) and
appeared in House, NCIS, Trust Me, and Baby Daddy. In 2013, he produced and
starred in the independent film Chariot. He later joined General Hospital as Dr.
Andre Maddox, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a
Drama Series in 2018.
Montgomery is also a
musician, having released the hip-hop album A.T. in 2008. His single
"Stimulation" was featured on Single Ladies. In 2013, he created the graphic
novel Miles Away, which follows a teenager with special abilities battling
aliens.
