The Boraalans were studied by for numerous years by the Federation. Dr. Nikolai Rozhenko was assigned to the cultural observation post. Rozhenko broke the Prime Directive when he became more involved with the species then necessary.
Boraal II's atmosphere was destroyed by atmospheric dissipation. Rozhenko led the Boraalans to caves. He then decided to transport them to the holodeck of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D. The crew of the Enterprise-D located a new uninhabited planet, Vacca VI. They were transported to the surface of the new planet.
Boraalans would keep a record of their history on scrolls. These were called the village chronicles. The scrolls from Boraal II were given to Enterprise-D crew member, Worf. Rohzenko said new chronicles would need to be created.
