The Ambassador class starship was a heavy cruiser and was launched in the mid
24th century.
One of the most notable Ambassador class ships was the USS Enterprise-C. The ship responded to a distress signal from the Klingon colony of Narenda III. Hostilities between the Federation and the Klingon Empire ended almost immediately. Ambassador class ships were used against the Borg in the Wolf 359 and during the Dominion War.
The Ambassador class featured the common saucer and engineering sections. It was smaller then a Galaxy class ship. The ships had a maximum warp speed of 8.2. The was upgraded to 9.2 during a refit.
New ships of the class featured an additional phaser strip that was mounted on the lower part of the secondary hull. The lower sensor dome was refitted with more advanced sensors.
The Main Bridge featured sitting only for the captain in the central area. Directly in from of this area was tactical and held stations. Along the back wall were the ops, engineering, and science stations.
