The Ferengi is a species that is purely ran on money.  Ferengi will usually scam their customers to make money.  The primary form of money is latinum.  Latinum is split into at least two ways.  A bar is worth 2,000 slips.  A bar is also worth 20 strips.

     Ferengi rarely are taller then 1.5 meters.  Their facial features included a ridged nose, sharp teeth, and very sensitive ears.

     They feature a four-lobed brain which telepaths (such as Betazeds) can not be read.

     Their ears are quite large and very receptive.  Most males enjoy oo-mox, which is the fondling of the ears.  They also have a great sense of hearing.  The ears on males are larger then those on females.

     Ferengi society was very sexist.  Women were not allowed to earn money or wear clothing.  They also weren�t able to travel or even quote the Rules of Acquisition.

     Ferengi marriages are male-oriented.  They feature latinum-dances, bridal auction, and near-naked females.

     The Ferengi made first contact with the Federation at Delphi Ardu in 2364.  The Ferengi were hostile towards the Federation till they decided that they could reap the benefits of doing business with Federation worlds.

     The Ferengi go by the Rules of Acquisition.  They are 285 rules for business.  All Ferengi are required to learn the rules.

     The Ferengi government is called the Ferengi Alliance.  The leader is called the Grand Nagus.  The Grand Nagus� office is called the Chamber of Opportunity.  The Tower of Commerce is the administrative center where business is conducted for all of Ferenginar.

     The Ferengi Bill of Opportunities was a legal document that featured individual civil rights.  A new amendment was passed in 2374 that gave the right for women to wear clothing.  The Ferengi Code is a set of ethical guidelines governing the behavior of Ferengi citizens.

     Before a Ferengi can do business, they must have a business license.  The Ferengi Commerce Authority oversees business practices and the enforcement of trade laws.

     Ferengi Salvage code allows Ferengi to claim abandoned items.  The Ferengi Trade mission is a diplomatic enclave, its intention is to further business interests.

     The Ferengi Gaming Commission is the governmental body that oversees gambling enterprises.

     The Ferengi do have some ceremonies they do celebrate.  The Ferengi Attainment Ceremony is celebrated when a boy becomes an adult.  The Naming Day is a coming of age ritual in the culture when a young Ferengi will receive presents from his parents.

     The Ferengi believe in the Great Material Continuum.  They believe it is the force that binds the universe together.

     When Ferengi die, their bodies are sold.  Autopsies are not allowed on the bodies.  A Certificate of Dismemberment certifies the identity of the body.  The Ferengi believe they go to the Divine Treasury.  The Blessed Exchequer is in charge of the Divine Treasury.  The Registrar is the attendant that awaits for the recently deceased at the entrance.  It is believed that Ferengi enter the Celestial Auction, where the deceased can bid for a new life.  If the Ferengi dies before making a profit, he is believed to go to the Vault of Eternal Destitution.

Ferenginar

     Ferenginar is the capital of the Ferengi Alliance, and the seat of the Ferengi Commerce Authority.  Ferenginar is known for it�s extremely wet climate, so much so that the Ferengi language has 178 words for �rain�.  It is located in the Alpha Quadrant.
